Onsite Effluent Treatment – National Testing Programme (OSET-NTP), Rotorua 2016/ 17 Trial 12
Environment Technology (ET) installed an AES system at the Rotorua OSET-NTP facility in Trial 12 which ran from October 2016 – July 2017.
The Environment Technology Ltd AES-38 passive aerobic proprietary trench treatment system tested achieved the following effluent quality ratings over the seventeen benchmarking results in weeks 20 to 35. AES thus meets the secondary effluent quality requirements of AS/NZS1547:2012 at the test flow rate of 1,000 L/day (ie at 97% of the plants advised design capacity or a loading rate of 37 L/m of AES pipeline/day).

De-Nitrification in Trial 13
At OSET Trial 12, Environment Technology participated in the later Research and Development period to determine Total Nitrogen reduction by recirculating a proportion of the treated effluent back into the anerobic and carbon rich environment in the base of the septic tank. Initial results obtained showed TN reduced to an average of <8mg/litre – a 85% reduction from influent TN values and improved BOD and TSS to below test limits.
From this R&D the AES-38R system is now participating in Trial 13, from October 2017 – August 2018 in this mode, achieving improved results with TN and with the inclusion of UV effluent disinfection, to effectively eliminate FC’s. These scalable tertiary treatment results are obtained with minimal energy and servicing input with one small pump.
